Join Gateway Gun Club Youth Shooters!
Gateway Gun Club Youth Shooters is a fun, competitive youth American
Trapshooting team founded in 2011 that operates out of Gateway Gun Club in
Bridgeton, MO. Athletes range from age 7 to 22. There is no minimum age as
long as the athlete can be coached to safely operate a shotgun. As a youth team, we prioritize AIM sponsored events and a few Amateur Trap Shooting Association (ATA). AIM is the youth program of the ATA.

What Is trap shooting?
Trapshooting is one of the three main types of competitive clay target shooting, the other two being skeet and sporting clays. In trapshooting, athletes aim at clay targets launched from a single “house” positioned 16 yards in front of them. These targets are thrown in a fan-shaped pattern, with some traveling straight ahead and others veering off to the left or right.
Athletes normally use a 12-gauge shotgun (some younger or smaller athletes start with a 20-gauge shotgun) and must react quickly with proper aim to break the target or “bird”.
